Language Lab

WELCOME TO THE LANGUAGE LAB, HUSKIES!

The Language Lab is a space dedicated to all ÏãåúÖ±²¥students (credit and Non-credit) with services that support and promote second language learning and global cultural awareness.  We strive to provide interactive and independent activities that fit each student's learning style and individual needs.

As language is a skill requiring continuous use, we offer in-person and online tutoring support and weekly workshops, web resources, and software to keep your practice continual.

Tutoring

We offer One-on-One Tutoring and Group tutoring. Walk in or make an appointment (through the  or directly from your Canvas page) for either a fifteen, twenty, forty, or sixty-minute session in all levels of English as a Second Language (ESL), American Sign Language (ASL), Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish. We have native speakers for Chinese, ESL, French, and Spanish tutoring. 

Workshops: One-hour workshops or review sessions that cover grammar and pronunciation practice.

Available resources for use in the Lab

  • Fiction, nonfiction and textbooks for Global Languages courses; and fiction, nonfiction and grammar books for ESL 

  • Beautifully illustrated children’s books for Japanese, Spanish, and Chinese learners
  • Manga and Japanese graded readers
  • Foreign and domestic films 
  • Fun card and board games for ASL, ESL, French, Japanese and Spanish 

Other Services: Study and reading areas, study tables and cubicles, computer area, and help-desk assistance.
